I recently bought an old Guild X-175 that had been spray-painted white on the Top & Headstock.

My intentions were to use it for Slide but,,after re-finishing it and oputting the Hardware on it,,,I found it to be an extremely great player.

I was able to salvage all the original parts except for the the Neck Heel Cap.

I also need a case for it.
Any idea what readily available Guitar cases will fit this Tone Monster ??

How about a source for a Heel Cap ??

The serial # is 2625
The label says New York,NY

I read that Guild moved to Hoboken,NJ in 1956

Any idea what year this guitar is ??

Thank You,

case for our X-175

Grady:

I'm about to list a very nearly brand new TKL Premier (archtop, deluxe fittings, case that I bought for an early X-400 - it'll fit your X-175. I found an older New York Guild case for the X-400, so I'm going to sell the new one. Not vintage, but a very good case, and it will be just fine for your guitar.

I'll be looking for something like $100 on ebay, but of course I can do it for less directly.

Cheers,
John Kidder

John,

Sounds like a good deal to me.
I'll take it.
I can pay you thru PayPal.

My local store has a case back-ordered for me but,,,you know how that goes.
I'm not even sure if that case will fit.

Send me an Email at jagr68@citlink.net please.

I would like to have a really nice case and I kinda need it really quick.
I've fallen in love with this guitar and I now have my Epiphone Emperor set up for slide in Open E.

I have 4 gigs in 4 different venues in 4 nights this weekend and would really love to take the Guild with me.

Thanks,

Hello Grady Musick,

Don't think that a heel cap will be readily available from any source. Heel caps are usually glued on 'oversized' and are trimmed to their final shape afterwards. Just a matter of finding a 'yellowed' piece of celluloid of the right thickness.

The guitar looks like it should be from 1955.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Thanks Hans !!

I'll get some material from Stew-Mac or somewhere and make Heel Cap for it.

A 1955 ??

That's great !!

Thanks for the info !

John was kind enough to hook me up with a Case for my Guild.

It should be on it's way anytime now.

Now,,all I need is a Truss Rod cover and a 3-way switch plate.

A Big Hearty "Thank you" to Hans and John for their help.

I need to purchase that book that Hans Authored.
