Howdy folks, it's been awhile and I had to re-register for the new board. Everything looks very nice!
I picked up a 64 Duane Eddy 500 at the Philly guitar show recently. It seems like a worthy project but I need some parts.
Anyone have a line on where to find:
-A set of gold plated Dearmond/Dyna covers? Condition/vintage unimportant. Need neck and bridge. Also will take gold plated adjustment screws and magnets.
-Guild branded B-6 Bigsby in gold? Condition/vintage unimportant, but I'd like a relatively clean one.
-Guild compensated Bigsby bridge? I'd prefer the Guild one as opposed to the standard Gretsch one.
-60's Guild pickguard tracing? I need something to make a template from. I can't remember how Guild did these. They were black plexi with the stuff silkscreened on top, right? ANy talent, expertise or services would be much appreciated on this as an original DE-500 guard would be next to impossible to find, not to mention expensive. I'd like to do the incorrect combo of stairstep shape with Dyna cut outs, so some cobbling may be needed.
-60s Guild truss rod cover? Anyone have one laying around?
Once all of my parts are here, I'm going to send this to a buddy to do the neck reset and hopefully have a new gig guitar. Any help on this project much appreciated.
Thanks to Hans for the info on this guitar regarding manufacturing date, etc.
Now, here's how she looks mocked up with what I had laying around:

I just got the 62 Dearmonds from a Gretsch pages poster. I'd like to start using this guitar as my main gig instrument, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Duane Eddy - 500 Parts

Hi RAO,

Since you're still in the process of finding parts, you might also take it a slightly different route since the guitar is already refinished.
Why not try to find all the parts in chrome? That would be a whole lot easier and the guitar would still look great.

I have a Starfire VI Special with 'factory stock' chrome parts and I think it looks really good. Actually, I like it more than 'gold' parts.

Just an idea!

Wow Hans, that Starfire is beautiful!
The only issue with chrome parts is I still have the gold Kolb tuners. I love the look of the Kolbs and finding another set in nickel/chrome would be next to impossible. But I did consider it as I don't like how gold wears.

Well, listen to this:
I have saved a couple of Kolb tuners sets in nickel as well as in gold that I'm keeping for some of those 'future projects' that might come along.
At this point I do not want to sell them but it wouldn't be a big deal for me to trade some used 'gold' ones for some used 'nickel' ones.
Would that be of interest to you?

Thanks Hans, but I'd rather buy the nickel ones outright. If I took the gold ones off, I'd wanna keep them for my own future projects!

Sure, I understand but I thought it would make the whole project you're working on now a bit easier!
