I have a 2003 (Corona) X-500 and a '95 X-700 both of which I really love. Since purchasing these two guitars I have become curious about older Guilds--especially the X-500s. If I were to buy an early X-500 with the DeArmond pickups would it give me more of the classic jazz tone I'm wanting? Or are those DeArmond single coils more suited for rockablilly i.e. Palladinos? I am quite happy with the jazz tone I get from my two Guilds but can't help but wonder if the older Guilds would be that much different---or would it simply be more of the charm of having a vintage instrument?
