No, not the classic archtop!

I think it was in the late 80's that Guild put out a small jumbo, rosewood back and sides, scalloped bracing with a 1 3/4" nut called the A-50. I want one!

Anybody know much about this model? Anybody know where there is one available?

Thanks,

Bob

Hi Bob,

Actually, it was the mid-90's just before the Fender take-over that the A-50 was introduced together with the similar model A-25, which had mahogany back & sides. Also, it was a bit smaller than a small jumbo being 15" wide at the lower bout. Quite a few of these A-25s were made during a period of about 3 years. The A-50s are somewhat more rare and therefore a little harder to find but they do show up from time to time.

Sincerely,

AF50s - AF25

From time to time, I see one of these on Ebay - just saw a mahogany abck & sides/sumburst top pass with an $800 starting bid, but after 7 days - no bids and no winner. But, from time to time, I see them on Jay Pilzer's site for New Hope Guitar Traders (http://www.guildguy.com). You might send Jay a note and tell him what you're looking for. Also, George Gruhn's site has a "wish list" option. I'd like to pick up an A25, but timeing and money are always the balance. Cheers! dbsmith
