Hey all,
I got home day before yesterday, my band's been on its first US tour, we just spent a month in the american southwest (about twenty shows) and it was a lot of fun.
I finally met Guild forum member Richard ("oilcandelay") in California, Richard and his lovely wife invited the whole band to stay at their place, bought us lunch, made sure we wouldn't leave without having had a demonstration of American hospitality.

Aside from being a very nice guy, Richard also has a very tasteful guitar and amp collection, and what probably amounts to the most complete collection of Tel-Ray oilcandelays in the world.

Also, I finally had a chance to play my guitar's blonde twin : Richard's natural finished 1962 X175. His guitar is in better shape than mine cosmetically, and obviously a different color, but apart from that it was very impressive how both guitars were identical : neck and body shape, neck set, tone, feel, and weight were exactly the same. In other words, I need another '62 some day!!!!

Walter,
Caught your show at the Vaudeville in Tucson and I really dug it. Was great to meet you between sets. Here's a couple of pictures of my mint 61 X-500 DeArmond that I told you about. Hope you make it back to the Old Pueblo some day.
regards,
Darrell (Bluelizzard)

Walter is so right about how the two guitars are so similar. With your eyes closed you could not tell the difference in tone between the two.

Walter forgot to mention that he could not keeps his eyes or hands off of my Guild CE-100DP, heh, heh.

And it was my pleasure to introduce him to the wondrous delay sounds of a tube driven oilcandelay.

Very true, that...

I'll end up buying an oilcandelay some day, too unique sounding not to have.

Bluelizard, it was very nice meeting you in Tucson, and that is SOME X500 you have there!!! That guitar is in spectacular shape!!!

Darrell,

Your 61 x500 is hurtin' me.

It's good to know that there is another Guild geek in the
Sand State, and one of them even knows how to spell his own name correctly.

Darryl,
Drop me a line if your ever coming to Tucson and you can play my X-500 along with my other Guilds. I don't think either one of us has the correct spelling.
