Here's one you might like........ "Get In Behind !"
Now, this is one of the most basic commands that a farmer teaches his sheep-dog. No, not some kind of mutant beastie, a dog that you herd sheep with.
When used in a human context, it means something like "Stop pissing about." Also useful, with the same sort of meaning, is the phrase "Sober-up"
"Get in behind" is not to be confused with the phrase "Get in my behind", which is what the owners of silly, pointy-guitars tell each other !!

Does anyone know if it is tomorrow or yesterday in New Zealand?

Some of Coastie's posts confuse me & I'd like to know if they are from the past or the future. Might make a difference.

Wonder what they do with those pointy guitars when they're not playing music with them?

Assuming Fender electrics qualify as pointy guitars, A 59 Strat appraised for 24 to 25 K on the telly yesterday. It had been played often but gently & came with a tweed Fender amp purhased new with the guitar.

Where I come from that's considered a goodly stack of "C" notes.

Is it possible Fender knows a few things about building guitars?

Coastie,

What's a Kiwi=ism for snow? I saw on the news that there was a lot of snow in NZ. I know that NZ is beautiful like Norway, but I didn't know that snow there is unusual.

Darryl. NZ has many international standard Ski Resorts in both islands.
Heaps of Euro's and North Americans come down here to ski during the Northern Hemisphere off-season.
An extraordinary amount of snow in the central South Island, such as we've had recently, is not uncommon. Unfortunately, the recent snows have interrupted the power supply, such that a lot of folk in the back country will be without power for perhaps a week And we're talking about days that probably average around 8 degrees celsius, with night temperatures down to possibly -8 degrees.
While all this goes on, at the other end of the country, Auckland ( Dauckland !!!! ), our largest city with a third of our population, has an 8 hour power-outage due to heavy rain, and the wankers grizzle about not being able to get a friggin' latte, or do their shopping in that time !!

If there is a Kiwi-ism for snow, I haven't heard it. We do talk (regarding snow) of "the big dump", which is not to be confused with the big dump I have after one of Mrs Coasties vindaloos !!!!!

Here's what I reckon is one of our best Kiwi-isms............

"Dog Tucker"

Now, "tucker" is Kiwi for food.
Anything crappy is dog tucker.
Anything that tastes ratshit is dog tucker.
And if you piss the old sheila around, you're going to be dog tucker.

The old sheila is, of course, your main squeeze.

Tucker is very possibly an Oz slang term also - we do share some expressions ( sheila, for example, is probably more Oz than ours.)

Don't know about Dingo tucker, sorry.

What I can tell you, is, that in spite of what Oz-tralians claim, WE INVENTED THE PAVLOVA !!!!!!

Pavlova
Is that like the female of Pavlov. Something about ringing a bell and getting a woman to do anything you want?

Bene,

Ringing her bell? Nice blues line, kind of like the one eyed peeper line a while back.
