Today the new 2006 D-50 Tacoma built arrived today June 6. It was built on May 15. According to the Fender representative in the Southern California area the D-50 has “Adirondack” top with the usual Indian Rosewood. Couldn’t play it that long since I had a 34 mile commute to work yet the few minutes that I played it sounds great and plays like a Guild. I ordered the guitar from Dreamquest Specialties here in Southern California, on Saturday, June 3, shipped on Monday and on my doorstep today!

Wow talk about a fresh guitar.
My new D55 will be in my hands tomorrow or Thursday.
I understand the D50 and 55 to be essentially the same guitar, the only difference being the decorations.
I must say though that I was under the impression that the D55 had a top of AAA Sitka Spruce. I would think that the D50 would have been the same?
I had a thread going on here not long ago entitled D 55 in Depth but nobody ever did provide the answer to what kind of Spruce was used.
I found the above answer on some site or forum somewhere.
Let us know when you get to playing that guitbox in earnest.

Thanks FNG.
The D50 Blue Grass Special is a different animal altogether from the D55.

Unless Fender ran a "one off" there is no maple in the new models yet.

The D-40 Bluegrass Jubilee is Red Spruce and Mahogany as per the specs above.

I expect some here next week to be inspected, then set up and shipped to customers who have the first orders in. I plan to take pictures and post them on our "Featured Gear of the Week" page.
