I just received the Spetember issue of "Vintage Guitar" and there is a nice one page article on Guild in general, and the Stratford X-350 in particular, in the George Gruhn/Walter Carter "Instrument Profile" column.

This is important. Gruhn is absolutely one of the world's greatest experts of all time. And I think the guitars he designed for them are among the best ever made by anybody. In particular, I think his maple dreadnuttin' is even better than an F50 (which is saying a lot) and far better than a J200 (which isn't).

But after Guild fired Gruhn @ 20 years ago, George always denigrated Guilds, classifying them with miscellaneous brands and below Martin, -ibson, etc. So when it comes to Guild, I hope he's changed his tune. And tone. I hope he doesn't keep playing in the key of A, if you you know what I mean.
