Anyone know what model numbers of the Madeira guitars correspond to specific wood types..

I just bought an A-4 off of ebay.. (it was listed as an A-40). I don't think I got as good a deal as I thought. Oh well. I've just got it and although it is a cheap plywood guitar it will do for what I plan for it.

I purchased this particular guitar to take and leave in Madagascar. We have an upcoming project there and I figure to learn some local music and leave a guitar behind.

Hi sfIII,

If I remember correctly the Madeira A-4 was a folk sized steel string model with mahogany back & sides from the early '80s.

I keep watching for the right deal to get one myself. There was a very nicely appointed model on ebay in the spring that even had the Chesterfield headstock inlay. Anyone know if that was a standard model? I haven't seen another one like it.
