i recently bought a Westerly 1979 D-25M....it turns out the neck is slightly bent....
whats the best remedy other than getting the whole neck reset?
I've had the action adjusted and it sounds and plays like a dream....do i need to get anything done soon?

Little Reg,

I think you can straighten it without re-setting it, but i don't know. Are you sure it's not straight? I've had people tell me a neck isn't straight so they can try to get a lower price on the guitar. On the other hand, you know it's not straight if it's a Gretsch.

Describe "slightly bent" as best you can.
Is it "relief" we're talking about (strings are higher off the fretboard because of the bend)
or is the headstock twisted?
Or is there a "hump" in the fretboard where to neck joins the body?

warped neck

yeah...the strings are higher at the neck around the heel...
There is no twisting...It seems to have happened after been left strung too often over a 30ish year period..
I took it to a luthier and he said the truss rod would only straighten it up to half way along....
You can place a rule along the fretboard and it touches at each end but not the middle....
Thanks for the advice..

Is there any "bellying" or buldging of the top under the bridge?
