I finally settled on a LR Baggs under-the-saddle pickup. It gives a real true reproduction, but it is a passive pickup so I sometimes use a Fishman belt pack style preamp/eq. With my Crate acoustic amp I don't need any preamp because it has a passive/active input switch.

Now the disclaimer - I know nothing about this subject other than what works well for me and my '76 D25M 8)

Flying,

Like Dred, I know little of the subject except to say that to me, nothing beats the sound of my acoustics "miked". My DV72 has a Martin (Fishman) 332 Thinline under saddle pickup and it's never sounded as good as it does played through a microphone. It just seems that miked, you get the same sound you do without a mike....only louder, and I like that.

I know I didn't answer your question, but that's the best I have to offer.

Good luck,
West
