What were they thinking of ???
Trying to cover some perceived niche in the market I suppose, but the thing just doesn't look "homogenous". More like "homo" really !!

Silly, pointy-guitars are ugly by nature, but I don't see any excuse for this abomination.
Is anybody out there brave enough to 'fess up to owning one of these things ?

I am looking for a picture of one, I think it is the Polaris.

You mean the Polara? That's definitely not the ugliest Guild in my book!

P.S. But I'm working on another one and there will be plenty of ugly Guild guitars in there!

Hattenhauer's infallible opinion is that when it comes to Guild solidbodies, which ones were NOT ugly? For me, that's the detonator, liberator, tele, and the birds (bluesboid, nightboid, and nightengale). The rest make me suspect that a Gibson spy sneaked in and tried to ruin their competition.

Hans,
That is not the one I am thinking of. I like that one.

If I had your book I wouldn't be scratching my head right now.

I believe these were inspired/endorsed by Brian Setzer. Yes, really. And actually they were and probably still are pretty nice guitars (aesthetics aside).

Gidday Hideglue.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if these are nice-playing guitars; they are, after all, Guilds.

I just feel this very peculiar annoyance about this particular design.
They took "my" Bluesbird (I have a '97 cherry 'burst) and bastardised it !!

Everything about it, bar the figuring in the wood, offends the eye. It looks like a spare parts special.

And blue ?????? Yuk !!!!!!

Well, it was the 80s afterall. You know; Spandex, Aquanet and pointy headstocks. Very few were actually thinking clearly during those times.

That one could be it, but there is one in the same vein as that one that might be the winner.
