Not Emmylou surely !!

I can't believe she'd have such bad taste.

Here in N.Z. in Whangarei (Fon-ga-ray), our northernmost city, they play Barry Manilow noise in the City Mall to discourage all the s##thead kids from congregating, and apparently it's been a great success !!!

I didn't even know there was a contest to win Emmylou.
I'd have spent a few bucks to have the result rigged !!

AHA !!!!!

Squawk's a closet Barry fan - he knows the lyrics !!!!

GULP ! But if I know that he knows, then I know them too !!

Isn't it amazing how the most insidious crap gets retained in the brain ?

At the time, I worked in an office where a top 40 radio station played "Mandy" 5 or 6 times an hour. Finally, we came to an agreement that in the afternoon, we would change the radio station (this was in NYC) to WOR - which, at the time, hosted the Bob and Ray show in its last days. What a relief! In fact, when I accepted a new job in Trenton, NJ, I asked if WOR came in - couldn't miss any episodes of "Mary Backstayge". Any other Bob & Ray fans out there?

Barry Manilow comes across to me about the same as Porter Wagner.

Actually if I was forced to choose which act to watch I'd take Porter Wagner. Still wouldn't care for it much, but that'd be my choice.

Personally, I'd go see if Slim Whitman or Zamfir were in town before seeing Porter or Barry!

This geezer still remembers his parents talking about the great Latin music at the Copa in NYC - before Lola went there :)

Again, much better than the other entertainers mentioned in this thread...

I hope this isn't nauseating, but Dolly Parton sang "I will always love you" about Porter.

The only Dolly Parton song I remember was not one she sang, but one about her called "Dolly Parton's <censored>"

The chorus went something like: they're big and soft and round, and they hardly make a sound.....
