Doyle Dykes ( tunings)

I saw Doyle Dyles play Friday night, great player. Can anyone help me with the tunings, I think he plays in DADGAD but not sure. He seems to play a sliding shape on the bass strings, in fact a lot of bass shapes leaving the treble strings open.

Any ideas on this, web sites etc I would be most grateful for some help but I don't expect to play anything like Doyle but I'll try.

I do know that he used to have several instructional tapes for sale at his website, http://www.doyledykes.com/. I'm not sure he still does.
