hi, in a local guitar shop , i saw a guild guitar (x175) . the label said it's made in Hoboken . The owner said it's a 1969 Guild . So i did a bit research on internet .

the webpage(http://www.music-n-sound.com/guitars/gu ... ldhist.htm)
said 1968 and 1969 , the guild factory moved to RI .

is there any possibility a guild 1969 x -175 still made in New Jersey?
could anyone help me with this question ?
thanks a lot!

Hello weibassist,

Even during the 1969-1970 period Guild still used the Hoboken, New Jersey label. That's all they had and they used it till they ran out. The new label, that didn't mention any location, was introduced during the year 1970.

So, to answer your question, a 1969 X-175 can have a Hoboken, NJ label but that doesn't mean it was definitely made there. It could though but probably not!

Sincerely,

Dear Hans:
thanks a lot for the info . Since you mention 1969 (or even 1968) Guild guitar with NJ label could be made in RI . If i want to find a real "Hoboken Made"
guitar . Is any guild guitar made before 1967 will be "Hoboken made " for sure?

thanks a lot

Hello Wei,

It depends upon the model. When Guild started production in Westerly they needed to train the new workers. For some time only lower line instruments were produced in Westerly, so I guess it would be safe to assume that all higher end guitars (which would include X-175s) up till 1968 were made in Hoboken, NJ.
