Thanks to everyone who gave me feedback about the Starfire IV yesterday - I bought it today - what a nice guitar! A 1999, in mint condition. Very comfortable, and I think a little lighter, but not much (if at all) as some of you said.

Great jazz tones, and rocks out, too - tobacco sunburst finish.

Wally,

Are you Paul?

But seriously, I lubs dem startfires. I have an orange 90' V, a red '73 VI, and a blond 60's XII. To my ear, the maple V neck 'bucker gets Paul/Boozebird tones, and the mahogany VI bridge 'bucker gets SG/S100 tones. With my XII, I tried to get Ric/McGuinn tones by reversing the strings, but it made no difference. So now I'm thinking of taking out the buckers and putting in old Guild D'Armonds.

Thanks! It's a great lookng and sounding guitar! Unfortunately, I'm not sure I can post pictures yet - I don't have the "public space" that the instructions for posting pictures mentions. If I do that, I will let you know.

Correction - the official name for the finish is "Antique Burst" - should have looked in my catalog first!
