I recently inquired about a X 700 and the owner told me it was a 25.5 scale length. However, I saw reviews by others that said it had a 24 3/4" scale length. Which is correct and is there that much difference between a X 175 and a X 700? Going to jump on one or the other when I get more information. Also what is the value of a 2000 X 700?

Thanks

Hello Doc,

The original version of the X-700 from 1994 had the short (24-3/4") scale. The 'redesigned' Benedetto version of the X-700, which was introduced in 2000 has the longer scale.
The X-175 and the X-700 are quite different instruments.
Basically, the X-175 and the X-500 are similar instruments. They are both electric archtops with laminated tops and similar dimensions. The X-500 however is a much more deluxe instrument than the X-175.
The X-500 and the X-700 look very similar but the X-700 has a solid spruce arched top, which gives it a more 'traditional' jazz tone.

Hope this helps you with some of these questions.

Sincerely,
