Hey all: I find myself lusting heavily after Bluesbirds, tending towards the Humbucker variety. However, I'm now playing an old 335 with the most wonderful sound. Haven't yet found a BB to try, so am curious what the BB could bring me tonally that I don't already have.

The 335 is a '66, with stock tailpiece. Has an airy tone. My guess is the BB would sound somewhat like it. True? Would the BB be cleaner at the same volume?

The older Bluesbirds that were completely hollow might sound a lot like a 335, but I suspect a Starfire would be closer to a ES 335.

Yes, as the owner of a Starfire IV (exactly like the one pictured!), and a previous owner of a Bluesbird, I agree with Mr. P.
