I usually keep my guitar in the case while not in use, but there are times when i use a stand at practice. I had one that I had for years and it recently got lost..

what stands are out there on the market now that won't mess with the finish on a Guild S-100? or is this not an issue? I heard certain guitars didnt like certain stands, only reason i ask.

what guitar stand are YOU using with your Guild?

These are very "finish" friendly..........

I use them for acoustics and electrics.

hey there fuzzfarmer

When I was a gigging musician, I went tried a lot of different stands. I finally stuck with these. http://www.hamiltonstands.com/guitar/kb38.htm

They fold up to just under 2 feet long--not as compact as others--and they're heavier than most. But they are one contained piece, easy to setup, rock solid, incredibly stable, and have a lifetime warranty.

I trust it with all my vintage gear, and I've never needed another. No comparison to all others which seem like junk next to it.

Well, it's been quite a while since Hatted Frau had a stand.

I think the guitar that Muddy is holding was one of those Guild made with a built-in stand in the back. Jay Pilzer called it a crash-o-matic. It was just one leg of metal, rather like the kickstand on my Harley-- the one I do wheelstands with on the university lawns.

Nice Guitar Stand

Recently I was at Sam Ash and found a Hercules GS414B guitar stand. What I really like about this stand is that the weight of the guitar locks the yoke and all you need to do to get the guitar is to lift it up. See the website below....

My 98 BB looks great in this stand and it is well protected... :)

I'm hardly a guitar stand expert but this little cheapo Chinese import seems a bit more stable than most, I have a couple & have been using them for two years with no finish issues.

Music store where I trade has dozens of new guitars displayed on these stands.

Howdy.

I've got several of those around the house, too, which I'm usually having to share with my daughter.

I use this one at home or gigs where I only take one axe. It's made by Ultimate. What I like about it is the twist lock device (that red knob) on the bottom of the central tube. It keeps the legs very secure and sturdy. It also folds up very nicely.

This one serves at most gigs since I usually take two guitars and there is rarely extra space. Lot's of makers of this type. It was a little riskier - I had to replace the locking screw that holds up the main telescoping tube. It stripped very easily. I also had to learn that the U's at the top need to be raised high enough to keep the necks pretty vertical, so the backs of the headstocks won't knock into each other. But now it is very stable and reliable and convenient.

Happy gigging!

Dooonnn, Jeff needs to be re-trained ASAP! He deletes pics "accidently", he double posts every other day, he's trying to break Darryl's post width now.

I hope this PM finds you and your beautiful family well.

Love
Graham

Those stands from Ultimate are nice. I usually don't buy things from "Christian Companies" but I make an exception for them.

Get the ones that don't have the support legs. They get in the way of a lot of side-mounted jacks.

Those multi-guitar stands are dangerous. They're unstable if you don't have them completely filled. And the ones with surgical tubing eat nitro finishes.

What the heck is my post width? Somebody answer before before Coastie gets here.

That was an issue before the software upgrade here Hatt. When posting a long continuous link, it would stretch the frame so you would have to scroll back & forth to read each post. Don't think it's a problem now.

You're right--it's the kind that's yellow, and as it ages turns a kinda orange color. Used to be on a lot of the older stands, but I haven't seen it on any of the new ones. It's commonly used on wrist rockets.

I've never heard anything about it eating up nitrocellulose finishes, but it's good to know because I have an old stand with that tubing on the neck holder. Thanks for the info Kap'n.

Fender makes a nice fold-able solid body stand that doesn't touch the neck. I bought one a fw years ago - came with a nylon storage bag. Link below is from Musician's Friend on-line catalog:

I've got an acoustic version of the Fender fold up - works fine for me. Means the Guitar is out and ready when asked to play at the Folk Clubs (unlike some who waste a lot of time going to their case and getting it out - nearly as irritating as 'unaccompanied' singers doing a monotonous 43 verse drone :!: ) - and not just propped against a table or wall where it tends tofall over
