A friend of mine found it in the trash years ago. It was still working then and (according to my friend) it sounded quite good, but time has taken it's toll and it is no longer functional. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi donG,

This is a Guild 40T amp. It is is small "student" amp.

These come in a variety of configurations. I have seen two different types to date. Yours is the type that has a seperate power amp section mounted to the base of the cabinet and the preamp with controls up top.

Can you remove the back a take picture to post? Also the Guild logo on the front of the amp looks unusual. Can you post a close up picture?

I owned one similar to yours a few years ago. It worked for about 10 minutes after I bought it and then quit. I assume the CAPs gave out. It had a single power tube. These are nice sounding little amps. The biggest issues with them is that the cabinet tends to vibrate when you turn them up because they are made of thin material. Also the hard handle tends to vibrate.

Thanks for all the info. I'll see if I can get my friend to take those additional pictures. I know that the logo on the front is silk screened acetate. BTW since you previously owned one, do you have any idea what it might be worth? I'm trying to figure out if it would be worth the expense of renovation.

Thanks again.

I sold mine, in non working condition, for around $130.

If it was working you can get $225 -$300.

You don't see these very often but it is just a basic amp.

Additional pictures

These are the additional pictures that I was able to obtain, none with the back off though, so I'm not sure how helpful this is. There's a close up of the acetate logo. Its attached with two small brads. There
are 4 tubes, 3 say "General" 1 says "Japan"
