Hi there,

I recently purchased a used Guild S-100 online from http://www.DavesGuitar.com . However, I have a few concerns about this model I got and here they are:

1. I can hear the Truss Rod rattling a bit inside the neck.
2. The hole for the truss rod near the neck pickup is not at the center??? It is somewhat offset to the right. Is this common to Guild Guitars?
3. I also noticed that the pots used were Made in Japan...
4. Attached are the pics, please tell me what you think if there's something wrong with it, or if it's a counterfeit copy. I bought it at a reputable store so I hope this is not the case. I hope Hans could read this. Thanks!

I hope the store you bought it from was reputable and not refutable. Because refutable is not a word and that wouldn't be good. But anyway, your guitar looks like a legitimate 90's reissue to me.

Hey, weren't you also a member of Fender forums as well? I think you're the same guy who answered my inquiries regarding Dearmond S-73. I used to stay in New Orleans back then. I only had S-73s at that time, and after a long wait, now I have a S-100.

By the way, what do you think of the offset truss rod hole(not at the center) near the neck pickups? Is that normal?

Thanks!

Maybe the truss rod is not tightened at all. Try to tighten it a bit. If you're not sure about what you should do, leave it alone and show it to a repair person.

That's not the truss rod channel you're looking at. That's the channel that was drilled from the neckpocket (before the neck was glued in) to the pickup routings, for the pickup wires to go through.

3. I also noticed that the pots used were Made in Japan...

That's common during this period.

Sincerely,
