Just got through watching The Long Road Home DVD.

Very good guitar work in there.

I never was a CCR fan and all, but I quite enjoyed this. Funniest moment was during the song Centerfield. John was playing a baseball bat shaped guitar. Cid was watching with me and in the middle of the song she said, "I didn't know this song was about baseball. I thought the lyrics were, "Put me in coach, I don't want to pay, full fare!"

The folks at that show sure got their money's worth, 27 songs.

Fogerty live is a real treat. He and his music have withstood the years in an amazing way. I saw the tour that resulted in the PREMONITION CD which is an outstanding concert album and includes almost all of the timeless CCR classics. I had previously seen him live following the release of ZOMBIE.

Was loaned this DVD for the weekend, and settled down about a half hour ago to view.

Travelin' Band was a bad start, don't want to hear it supercharged ! Why so many musicians on stage ? CCR's music was simple, 4 piece stuff; therein lay one of its beauties.

Oh no ! This guy's gonna change guitars for every damn' tune !

5-6 tracks and I'm thinking of doing something more interesting; like, the car needs cleaning.

Then some bollocking Harley Davidson crap. Thank you, over and out !

Couldn't be bothered with the rest.

Well, the guy on the Gretsch was nice to listen to.

The plinky Taylor wasn't.

And there was some joker there that looked like an even more greasy Sylvester Stallone; I loathe Stallone !

C'mon Coastie, quit pulling your punches ... what do you really think of the guy? Haven't heard or seen the CCR DVD; did catch a few minutes of Rocky Part 7.493; "Return of The Other Guy's Corner Man" Proud Mary was big when I was in basic training; 'Rollin', Rollin' .... one of those 'where were you when ...' things.

That's the sort of thing that long ago turned me off of "reunion", or "classic" act shows. I want to hear real music, not a bunch of generic "Phil Spector Wall Of Sound" fill-ins.

If JF can't make up with Doug & Stu, he should just hire 2-3 good solid players, or forget it & do something else.

I hate it when I expect to see 4 or 5 guys doing what they did so well together, & instead there's a crowd of 10 other people on stage around them, so you can't tell who's doing what.

Not a problem; try to sort of keep track on the LTGers here in FL; Dr Izza Plumber / Dave is up Rt 75 (or Rt 41 if you dig traffic lights) from you. Thanks for your 20; one day, we'uns will do our own get together!

Don't care for that many lights, but I-75 isn't much better, with so much traffic at 70mph or more! I'm hoping to make it up to Sarasota to check out some of the Classical Mandolin Society convention in two weeks, though.

Depending on your schedule and if you haven't had the chance, you might want to take the barrier island trip out of Sarasota; over to Long Boat Key and up the islands; Bradenton Beach, up to Anna Maria Island for lunch or dinner; the farther away from Longboat Key you go, the more 'old FL' it is .... major development barriers farther north and slide in condo mkt likely to keep it that way for some time to come.

Was alway a John Duffy fan; heart and soul of the old Country Gentlemen and later the Seldom Scene; a very successful Wash DC bluegrass/county group; Duffy, a reasonably good mando player, has that 'schoolboy' tenor thing - enough voice to take the listener back to the turn of the (previous) century. A really talented guy; not the best vid but the idea;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKuAIzFI ... ed&search=

singer is John Starling, former Dr at Walter Reed Army Hospital, Ben Eldridge banjo, Mike Auldridge dobro, and John Duffy mando/tenor; not sure who bass player is; Tom Grey formerly. Several great albums in the 70s/early 80s on Rebel Records; local DC area groups featured on the label. Before the area became the Washington we know today, in the 1960s it was a mecca for bluegrass in the mid-Atlantic states; County Gents, every Thursday night at the Shamrock on M. St. in Georgetown....
