the cartoonist was B. Kliban. He's been gone for many years now, but his work still makes me howl.

I'd forgotten about Kliban - he's totally appropriate for this forum. I remember visiting a guitar-playing friend and seeing this on his kitchen wall.

Still makes me laugh.

Whoops - that's too small to see. Can't find (quickly) a larger version. Mark?

Try this (with music, even) "Love To Eat Them Mousies"

That reminds me of another artist, Sandra Boynton, who used drawings of animals on her greeting cards, i wish I could find a copy of the one my sister sent me years ago for Christmas. it was a series of animal drawings, you'll have to imagine the animals, but inside it was translated:

Wee fish ewe a mare egrets moose, panda hippo gnu deer!

Ah yes. The animal card of hers I still remember

Hippo, birdie, two ewes
Hippo, birdie, two ewes
Hippo, birdie, hippo birdie
Hippo birdie, two ewes.

Sixteen animals, artfully arranged.

He could just about give us a "head's up" Mark. Be a tough spot after a big chili night.
