Buy this CD.

Putumayo Presents New Orleans Brass Bands

Not a stringed instrument in earshot. But buy this CD!
I brought it back to Vietnam with me along with a bunch of
Cajun & Zydeco CD's for mes amis Francais.

I loaned them all to a restauranteur.
I told him the only one I wanted back was this one.

And he would pay with his life if he failed to return it.

It's that good!

Nice choice, Marc! To my mind, ANYTHING on the Putumayo label is outstanding! Great collections of world, regional, and ethnic music that are always terrific examples by fine players. Very joyful stuff!! The first album I bought on that label was a celtic collection, several years ago. I've since heard their latin stuff and some midlle eastern stuff that I loved! Great percussion!

Thanks for bringing them to our attention, Marc!

I guess there is a stringed instrument on it. The Preservation Hall arrangement of "Dinah" has what sounds like an archtop strumming. I've never seen an archtop in Preservation Hall. But I've never heard a tenor banjo that strummed so smoothly. So I'm thinking they had an archtop in the studio on that cut.
