Hey, I just bought a 61' Gibson LG-0 off ebay and I'm looking to get some strings for it. I'm not exactly that knowledgable when it comes to acoustic guitar strings but I have an old Yamaha acoustic and the strings are just horrible. They feel so tight on the guitar, smell like metal, and are just really hard to play because they're rough..and they're only about 1 month old. I'm basically looking for the opposite sorta thing for my LG-0 and preferably with low tension. I hear that older strings sound good with small bodied-mahogany guitars so maybe strings that don't sound as sharp as new strings (?).

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Hello soma89,

You may have never heard of these strings but I have a couple of customers who have the same problems with new string as you do and they like 'm a lot! They're more expensive than most strings but they last a long time, they have a nice mellow tone, they're soft on the fingers and they are available in several gauges.

Just give it a try! I think they have a great sound. Definitely different from regular bronze or phosphor bronze strings.

Good luck!

Sincerely,

Thanks a lot, I've looked into the matter already and I found only one small shop near where i live (Toronto, Canada) that sells them. I might go in sometime during the week to pick them up. Would you recommend them for fingerpicking? Cheers

Hello soma89,

Yes, definitely good for fingerpicking.

And by the way, the link I gave you was from Elderly and they do sell on-line.
However, if your local music store has them in stock maybe you should give them your business.

Let me know how this works out for you!

Sincerely,

Hans Moust
