Väsen and a Guild sighting

Väsen is a Swedish folk band featuring a regional instrument called a nyckelharpa. It's a sort of keyed violin. Discovered them several years ago on A Prairie Home Companion and have been a fan since. A couple of their more popular tunes are "The 39 Year Jig" and "Josefin's Waltz", which was written for the christening of one of the bandmember's daughter.

First, Väsen performing "Josefin's Waltz".

Then The Evergreen Band doing a very nice arrangement of it - with the Guild (D35?).

Melodic, Rhythmic, Percussive, and Scandinavian!

Man, I love the sound of that instrument.
Never heard of one of those before.

Thanks for posting, Guildmark.

I'm going to check out some of their other music.

Great stuff, GM. Do you speak Swedish?
Glad you like it!
No Swedish, except, "ABBA".
I took Norwegian in college, but the only phrase I remember is, "No thanks. I prefer to smoke a pipe."
