Benny was big over here in the late 70's, early 80's.

Before that we got to see some "Python" in the 70's.

Then we got "Fawlty Towers".

I also always enjoyed "The Good Life", renamed "Good Neighbors".
(Just got the complete series on DVD for my girlfriend for Christmas)

Other British TV I've watched on American TV are;

"To The Manor Born"

"The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin"

"Butterflies"

"Man about the House"

"Ever Decreasing Circles"

"Ripping Yarns"

"The Young Ones"

I know there were more, by these were ones I watched regularly.

(I watched a lot of TV as a kid.)

I miss Benny, too, but don't forget 'Allo 'Allo, '82 to '92, 85 episodes that tell the story of a French Cafe owner in WWII, as he navigates between the Resistance, the German Occupation Forces and the 'Trials of Love'.

Why, I even saw the stage production at the Palladium in London, on 'me honeymoon' in '89!

Same production team brought you, Are You Being Served?

Don't forget Blackadder, too.

Thanks Ross - a man of taste :!: Then again, I see you are not from the States :D But then again, neither is Graham :?

(BTW - I hated Ab Fab - Joanna Lumley saying 'sweetie' was like a nail scratch on a chalkboard  As and when 'Jam and Jerusalem makes it over the pond you can see her playing an awful, mad old hag Delilah Stagg :) )

Hi Jerry:

There's something in the chemistry between Lumley & Saunders that I find hilarious. :)

My all-time favourite was Tony Hancock :!:

cheers

True - Lumley and Saunders have a great double act - and Hancock needed Sid James whereas Sid was funny on his own (so long as you have a coarse sense of humo(u)r like me)

I'm a huge fan of Brit comedy. Like many, I was weaned on the classics that made it here: Benny Hill, Monty Python, Black Adder, The Young Ones, Are You Being Served, The Rutles. When living overseas, I got a chance to see a few more. My more recent recent faves are the original version of Coupling and the skit comedy show Smack the Pony which was a lot like Saturday Night Live or MADTV here.

Maybe not, but Shirley he's been there.

While I have not been there, it is just a few miles from my home. It's on some private land atop the "Hamilton Mountain" (elev. 300')

Although I did see a "Monster Jag" parked in Red's driveway.

I'm sure his neighbours were thrilled with that.
