Guys,

There are 2 open mics I can recommend in the DC/Northern Virginia area. These are primarily "folk" venues.

1. "The Coffee House of Occoquan" - 100% acoustic. Usually given three songs. Indoors
in the winter , outdoors in the summer. Every Sat
2. "Folk club of Reston" - very much a "listening" audience. Held Every Tues night.
You get 12 min.

The Blue Horn Lounge!

Went to this place a few months ago and had a blast. It is tiny, you are set up with no frills sound in a crowded corner, but the vibe is awesome. Very, very supportive crowd, one of the best I've ever played to. It's funny because for a place so small I was expecting it to be mostly the players in attendance, but that was not at all the case. Instead, I ended up playing in front of a really packed room. Several folks (players and non-players) were complimentary afterwards, the co-owner of the place is a music nut with tons of pride & enthusiasm. I dragged a couple co-workers with me since we were down there on business together, and we all had a great time. Lots of talent, well organized, no surprises, etc.

Gotta say, I tried in vain to find a good place to play down in the Triangle area during the past 18 months or so. Never had any real luck at all (a couple places I went to I walked out before even considering playing). Anyway, this is a real gem tucked right in the middle of Franklin Street... the main drag of UNC @ Chapel Hill's shopping, restaurant and bar district.

Keep 'em coming, folks!
