I didn't post this in the archtop section, because it's not a Guild.

Here's what the world's only Marcellis archtop looks like.

The inlay cost me around $33 USD.
I think I'm out about $450 for the whole guitar,
Kent Armstrong pickup & Schallers included.

It's a good guitar. The neck is a bit chunky for me.
But I'm used to an F-65ce. Any neck would be chunky compared
to it.

Nice custom job, Marcellis. Hey, I'm looking for a custom Guild truss rod cover for my F-50R... Any thoughts?

That's pretty cool, Marc!

I may have missed it before, but did you commission this - like to your own specifications, designs, and stuff? Is it a carved archtop or laminated? Tonewoods?

I am starting to believe anyone visiting the far east these days needs to plan on buying a handmade suit in Hong Kong and a custom-built guitar in Vietnam.

Congratulations!

Very cool - you'll probably get someone coming up to you and say "I've never heard of a Marcellis guitar - are they expensive?"

Best I've got is little gold JR letters on the back of my headstocks

Thanks everyone.

QuesGUILD tions:

1. Did I commission this one?

A: No. I bought it from my luthier's shop and commissioned the inlay.

2. Truss Rod cover?

A: I suppose there are people who could paint or inlay the GUILD logo on a truss
rod cover. It may need to be a volume order though. The covers are only plastic.

3. Suits & Guitars in the Far East.

The workmanship on suits is just as good in SGN as in HK. The cloth is often not
very good though. That's why I only buy solid suits in SGN. They're a lot cheaper here though.
And the workmanship is first-rate. In a lot of ways, Saigon is like HK 50 years ago. It doesn't sit
in a beautiful bay though.

4. This archtop is solid Mahogany back & sides. Top is solid Spruce, I think. Or it may be Mahogany too.
I'm not sure.

People curious about the sound can hear a recording of it acoustically - not plugged in - here.

"Slow Bossa".

I mixed the guitar kind of loud in the mix, so I could hear how it would sit
in a mix.
