Those are nasty creatures! Used to be a ton of 'em around when I was growing up in Portland, OR. Now, my folks say they have been run off by racoons (or hit by cars). When we (five!) kids were especially exasparating to my folks, it wasn't uncommon to hear them say "Why don't you go play possum on the highway!"
