So mello has been readin up on all the happy reviews and stories of good dearmond starfire bass experiences... long story short... he got one and put dark stars in it  the result of this series of events is that there is a 1971 JS-II bass for sale here: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=13433.
finally, here are some photos of my new baby babecakes:

Played it for about an hour this morning. The pickups were nice but they didn't really do it for me. This thing kills with darkstars though

Congratulations, although there is a part of me that hopes your friends stick around longer than your basses :)

Sounds awesome Ingo !

What are you playing thru on the recording ?

The amp is my Fender Bassman 1200Pro head (http://www.dv247.com/invt/41604/). It's recorded via the direct out, right into my computer's line in. My computer has a crappy soundcard so the recording really doesn't do it any justice. Through my Avatar 1x12 cab, live, this amp+bass combination is unbelievable!
