Is that new for you?

If so, congrats. :D

I've played some nice-looking and nice sounding Washburns.

Very nice. What year is it?

I was thinking the USA custom shop had not turned out an acoustic in many years.

Yes it's new (bought on Ebay December 2009) or "NOS", it's a 2004 made ;)
Not too much US acoustic Washburn yes, since the end of the John Stover serie (2007)
I think Washburn will come back on acoustic when Fender come back on electric with Guild

It looks like a well built instrument... I would be curious to hear it, how would you compare it to , say a DV52 or Martin HD 28? I bet it can hold it's ground can't it?
Is it a rosewood box BTW?

A little word about USA made Washburn http://reviews.ebay.com/Washburn-Acoust ... 0006159604
And a link to the Washburn forum about the last serie (John Stover 2002-2007)
http://forums.washburn.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=16427
and the USA made
http://forums.washburn.com/topic.asp?TO ... hichpage=1
It seems some of the latest still on the market (D84 Koa too)
http://www.musiccitycanada.com/details.asp?uid=605

The D82 is a Sitka/rosewood classic D (D78 was mahogany, D80 mapple, D84 koa)
I will not compare with D55 (i didn't play one...), the only DV52 i could try had a very little sound (too young i think) but was very easy to play, and i didn't play a HD 28 since...hummmm...30 years (didn't like the neck), but the D82 is very similar i think for the sound with a more comfortable neck, i have to try different strings (elixir medium actually, it's "brillant") .

And...Pike, glad to hear from you here with your superb non-Guild-D55 8)
and what about the little D on the right, D51 Apache or D56 ?

Thus the origin of the term Dreadnuts?
With Tiny Tim and a Uke, that would be Dreaded Nuts.

Man, that was a very rapid veer. I think I have whiplash!
