Cool. Clearly hollow from the body width and the binding on front and back show. Mid-1967 or later based on the bridge shape and the tone switch. What's that on the treble side directly under the player's hand? It looks like there is the second finger rest, but what is the rest of the dark area? Doesn't look like it could be a shadow or an artifact of the finish? After market mini-pickguard?

See Grot's for comparison although it has the curved bridge and no tone switch.

thanks john, isn't it a cool bass?
I guess it is some gind of pickguard under a 2nd thumbrest, because it is in the position where it would be useful if you play with a flatpick more aggressive while damping the strings with the ball of the hand - at least I would put it there to cover the body. :?:

Hi Michael; it's very cool. If I had it ... I'd learn how to play bass!

Neat! Great to see someone playing a single-pickup-in-the-neck-position bass!
Sounds like me and my SF I need to get out more...

I must admit I haven't been playing my SF I lately. But then again, I have very few opportunities to play out at all!

Man, that's a beautifully clean example! Also worth noting are two of my favorite bass rigs in the background--an Ampeg Portaflex and the venerable Acoustic Control Corp Preamp (360?).

Lemmy and Iggy are also a treat to see.
