Re: F112 LTG Owner Review

How long have you owned the F-112: 37 years
Year & specific model: 1971 F-112
Purchased new or used: New
Price paid: $326.00 (without case)

Owners rate 1 (least appreciated) to 10 (most appreciated) in following categories with comments as desired:

Build quality 8
Looks 9
Projection 8
Bass 8
Mids 10
Highs 10
Sustain 9
Playability/comfort 7 (needs neck reset)
Dependability 8 Stock tuners are tough to keep in tune
Fingerstyle 10
Flatpick 10
Strum 10

Condition (Mint/Excellent/Good/Fair/Poor): Fair - needs neck reset

Favorite Strings (one selection only): Elixer

Would you buy another if lost/sold: Yes

Overall Assessment: It was built with a rather poor neck angle resulting in a very low saddle when new (I didn't know any better - I was 15 years old). I put a JDL Bridge doctor on it which straightened the pulled top and reglued the bridge, but it still has pretty high action and a bad neck angle. I'll get it reset someday.

Most Appreciated Characteristic: great sound in a small package, more mid-range than most 12 strings, very different sound
Least Appreciated: bad neck angle from factory
Favorite F-112 Story/Moment: Shortly after i bought it at my local mousic store, I was back there for my weekly lesson (my teacher was into classical music ans was appalled I bought a 12-string as my first good guitar). A local guitar hero was in the shop talking to the owner "you sold that Guild F112, that was a cool little player, who bought it?" "oh some punk kid who takes lessons here..." "wow I hope He appreciates what a nice little 12 string her got". I stood over there and smiled, too shy to tell the local hero I was the punk kid.

1976 F112-6

I'm sure that I play her more as a 6 string than I would have if she had remained true to her manufacture.

Thanks again, David, for this little sweetheart, :D
