This guy got it at a church sale, and it will be for sale...I think he's looking at 5 grand. I'm no expert but think it might be worth a lot more than that. Will post a link to a couple of pics soon. Steffan

1959 or 60, mint, could be 100 times that. Wouldn't count on it, though.

Hello Steffan,

Tell the guy that it's a mid-seventies Les Paul Custom. If original (which it is not) it would be a $ 3500.00 guitar, but with all the changed parts and the removed serial number, he's going to have trouble selling it for more than $ 2000.00.
Since he got it at a church sale, he might still make money on it though!

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

When the seller hears that he's going to be sitting in his own pew.

Mid to late '70s as Hans says. They used a decal/sticker thing for the model name and serial number, and you can see where that's been removed from the back of the headstock. A late '50's early 1960 one would most like not have been a 'burst as the Custom only came in black then.

They've changed the pickups, and possibly the neck PUP mounting ring as it doesn't look much like the bridge ring nor the pickguard. Could have been made in either Kalamazoo or in Nashville- the serial number would code that. I can't see a big picture of the full body shot, but it looks like a "Nashville" Tune-a-matic bridge, not the earlier ABR-1 Tune-a-matic. The Nashville version (which was also used in Kalamazoo when they ran both factories) has captive screws for the saddles instead of the loose ones the original TAM had. The bridge housing is bigger and the saddles screws have small C-clips holding them in place instead of a bail wire laying over the top of the screws.

LP's tend to be VERY heavy. I guess it's the maple top.

That's a pretty guitar! I'm sure it rocks, too!

I love how they sound, but they are uncomfortable for me to play sitting, and a killer when standing - my shoulder aches within an hour.

It explains why so many rockers do drugs - so they can withstand playing one!!
