Saw it in Hurricane, Utah. The moon made a perfect bullseye in the ring of fire and the sunlight peeking around the perimeter gave everything an odd thinned out look. The peaks of nearby Zion National Park took on pastel hues. We had eclipse "glasses" and a half-inch hole in a notecard projected silver dollar size images on the wall about 10 feet away. It showed crescent shapes matching the progress of the eclipse and during the period of annularity it made a ring of light with a dark shadow in the middle.

It was like, cosmic, Dude.

For those who missed out on Sunday there are some other celestial events coming up. In the wee small hours of June 4 there will be a partial eclipse of the moon with an umbral shadow visible to many in the central and western USA. And on June 5 there will be a rare transit of Venus across the sun. It will be visible over all of North America starting at about 6:00pm EDT and 3:00 PDT. You will need eclipse glasses (or #14 welder's goggles) to see this. There will not be another such event until 2117.

Maybe the Marines will be less disruptive this time.
