Good LORD, guys and gals.... how many hits can we take all at once?

Robin Gibb lost his battle with colorectal cancer today. He was only 62 years old.

Thanks for the MANY, MANY years of music in multiple genres and all the associated memories. RIP, sir.......

Only one Bee Gee left..... Jeeze......

Sad news indeed. I wasn't a fan of most of their RSO stuff, but they had pretty substantial body of work anyway. RIP

They had a really unique, signature sound. I was a big fan early on, and I still kinda liked their "disco" era stuff.

We'll just have to get used to this sort of thing, won't we?

Sad but true. I don't know anybody who's getting any younger. :(

This has been a bad year for music...

I always liked the pre-disco stuff - "Massachusetts", "I Started A Joke", and "Words" come to mind as great songs - great harmonies by the three brothers.

While I'm no fan of the disco era, fact remains it's helped most of us get laid.

For that reason, and many more, my hat's off to you, Robin.

One thing I think is important to rememeber is that the Bee Gees didn't just help define disco. In many ways they helped define decades of dance music from the 70's to today. Go to a pool party in Vegas and you can hear it blaring: the beat, the harmonys, the structure, it's all there being spun by a 24 year old that wasn't even alive when people were using "real" instruments (and not just a turntable and a laptop) to get butts movin'.
