8) Cool! That man and his music has been a constant influence to my musical 'self' since my big brother came home with Blonde on Blonde.
The creative thinking, vivid images, and thoughtful wordplay that so many of his songs envoke has sure changed the way I see things. To the better. What a journey he has had, and has taken many of us on as well. Well deserved!

I think that "Blowin' in the Wind" alone is enough to qualify him for the honor.

According to Bob Dylan's website, he wrote 458 songs. Here is a link where you can listen to a few soundclips of them - not all are 'live'. Kinda fun to go down memory lane. :)

Well-deserved award, Mr. Dylan. Congrats, BD!

P.S. Don't Think Twice, It's Alright and Copper Kettle were two of the first songs I learned to play. Gosh, that brings back some good memories.....don't use no green or rotten wood, they'll get you by the smoke.

I remember when he did a concert in Toronto. First half acoustic and the second half electric, people booed and some walked out. He then followed up with a song called 'if
I had to do it all over again, i'd do it all over you'..
.I dont think he ever recorded it but didn't he ever have a way with words......if you're not busy being born, you're busy dying.....wow! Steffan

Most certainly!

Tim O'Brien recorded an album of Dylan songs called "Red On Blonde", which think is really terrific, by the way.

Don't follow leaders... and watch your parking meters,

Does anyone know if that was original with Dylan? I had a couple of friends who used the phrase a lot in the late 1960's or early 1970's and I always attributed it to their cleverness. Since Dylan was not a model or inspiration to me it is quite possible I was just clueless but...

"Far between sundown's finish an' midnight's broken toll
We ducked inside the doorway, thunder crashing.
As majestic bells of bolts struck shadows in the sounds
Seeming to be the chimes of freedom flashing.

Flashing for the warriors whose strength is not to fight,
Flashing for the refugees on the unarmed road of flight
An' for each an' every underdog, soldier in the night
An' we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing."

No doubt who wrote those words in 1964.
