Great pic!

Back in 1985 the dollar was very strong and I took my family to France and England for the month of May.

One night we were having a very early dinner at a nondescript (cheap) Italian restaurant just off the main drag in Paris. We were the only ones there until who should walk in but The Rolling Stones! Only Mick was missing and all had their women with them.

They were all dressed in tuxes and took a table in the far back portion of the room. SO...

I HAD to get Keith's autograph. I grabbed a postcard and approached their table. Keith immediately stood up and offered his hand for a shake. Could not have been more polite. He autographed my card and then I told him that of all the songs they'd recorded I liked his cover of "Route 66" the best.

Touched a nerve with that one!

He immediately interrupted his bandmates and then asked me to repeat what i said. I did so and they started laughing at Keith and said he'd put me up to it.

Well, Keith assured them that was not the case and then told me it's his all-time favorite song. He added that he's been trying to get the Band to include it as part of every setlist, but they won't have it. Another polite handshake and I was off back to my table.

Ah... GREAT memories!
