....and I finally made it home tonight!

Started off with a tremendous display of lightning and cracking thunder on Day 1, and the weather went back and forth the whole time I was on the east slope of the Cascades.

Through the windshield on the way down from Hart's Pass, WA

Lots of snow still in the high places and tons of water flowing downhill. Sorry for you folks in the heat basket but we're cool up here in the northwest corner.

It's good to be home. 8)

Welcome back, Joe. Was this a top secret mission, or can you tell us about it? No hurry, I'm off all week.

Thanks Doc.
I was on a mission to look into misappropriation of funds by the state Commissioner of Guard Rails!

About 1,500' down if you slide off the shoulder

No speed bumps needed up on the high road.

*Actually, I was pursuing some new inventory (birds, etc.) for a presentation I'm doing in the fall. Came home with about 1,200 good images! :D

Joe

*How are you feeling these days?

I'm feeling fine. Just trying to loose the weight I gained, I'm getting there, riding the bicycle and walking a lot. They want to remove my gall bladder and fix a hernia I've had for years, but neither is a pressing matter. I think I'll let that stuff ride until next year.

That road reminds me of some I traveled in Central America.

Welcome home Joe.

Man, it doesn't seem like ten days have passed since you headed out. I'll bet the days flew by even faster for you.

Looking forward to seeing some of the 1200 pictures you took. :D

Thanks, George.
The weather created most of the images, and I just happened to be on hand to capture a few, like this one.

The drive over State Highway 20 is always different, no matter how many times I've done it in 35 years. Highly recommended!

Actually Joe, looking at these pics, I wouldn't mind getting away from the "heat bucket" for a week or two and dive (not litterally  ) into that beautifu scenery... but have to start on the new gig tomorrow, so no clue when the next vacation will be.
Not complaining though, at least I have a job. :)

Now that you're back on the job, maybe you can plan some vacation time to visit places with great names like this.

It's still winter up there so when do late winters become early winters? If I recall from previous visits, there is a window of opportunity in September!

I'd love to Joe. Me and Mrs both.
It's 58 degrees right now with light rain, just to keep you posted on a typical July 2. We usually have to bundle up for the big fireworks show....and then summer begins.
Might get up to 70 by Saturday!

Take care,
Joe
