Bob Babbitt was the (white) Motown bass player that took the seat after James Jamerson exited. He is heard on many, many Motown ear hits. Up until a year ago he was working on a new studio, I think in his home. Passed away on the 16th of a brain tumour. He has some Youtube videos up, one is of a girl who is (was) his student, just great.

...looking at Bob's board, it appears that another Funk Brother, Joe Messina dropped out of sight last year...he was a guitarist, played a red Tele with a Jazzmaster neck...seemed they didn't know if it was family problems or his health.

Damn.
