Since ladytexan mentioned her favorite chord is G in griehund's "very important question" thread, rather than highjack it, I'll start a new one.

What's your favorite chord?

Mine is Fmaj7.

I really like the sound of a power G chord. [with the added d on the b string]
Probably because I like Bluegrass music.

the 9th and minor 7th are "meat and potatoes". If I had to pick between them, I guess I'd have to go with the minor 7th.

Love the +5 or -5 chords too.

But for one favorite chord...I'd have to go with the #7 13th. Just a beautiful set of notes

The one connecting my bass to the amp because otherwise I'm more irrelevant than usual.

I like a G7(6)

From low e to high e string

2nd finger on G
1st finger on B
3rd finger on F ( which is the 7)
last three strings open
*the open high e is the 6

And speaking of Fmaj7

try Fmaj7 with (G in the bass)

From low e to high e string

3rd finger on G
mute the A string
4th finger on F
2nd finger on A
1st finger on C
open High E

and resolve to the G7(6)

Minors here too.
D.......D minor, So many ways to work that one into a song, and 'pull it apart' whilst still strumming or picking the same chord.

I like Neil Youngs: "Old Man" where he goes back between d and the open hammer on d minor

Gonna restate what I mentioned in griehund's thread, next to E and Cmaj7, G is my favorite chord. :::tahdah:::

Nice thread, walrus! 8)

John, we may need to weave a few Dmin's into some songs at LMG III?!

Kind of like picking a favorite color :? . E chord barred @ 7th fret with the 6th string open. Thats a loud, full chord especially so when strummed on my D-55 :). So many beautiful chords out there but that E barred is the one I use to really help determine a guitars strength (or weakness)

Well, I play some rather unusual chords in some rather strange tunings that I like very much. But for the more routine, I like E major in drop D. It just sounds so full and rich!!

I love a G chord, usually the 4-finger version with the B-string used to add the extra D-note.

My favorites are the transition chords like C aug and C9 played up the neck pretty much any where. They're like stop and start chords. They end one phrase and point you into in another one.
