Long ago, in a galaxy far away (some 35 years ago), I spent several years as a radio disc jockey. On this current chart of popular downloads, I know the names of 5 of these artists, don't know any of the songs or albums.

Same here, 3.
I know a couple of the Country Names but not the songs.
I live in a time machine that is set at 1970 I guess.

I now know how my parents felt about my music back then.

I've heard half the singles... over and over and over again! I have daughters aged 11 and 14, who rule the radio whenever they are in the car. Ugh!

I know a few of these artists but none of the songs. Saying that, the top 40 & I haven't really been on speaking terms since I was about 14. To me, sanity is not statistical.

I know the artist for several, but only from "entertainment news" - I don't know any of the songs. Most of these newer artists (but not all - Taylor Swift and Alanis Morrisette seem pretty genuine), worry about their dance moves and their video more than the music. But that's the way to succeed today it seems.

I'm familiar with 5 names off each list, not counting the ever popular "Various Artists', but wouldn't know what any of them sound like.

I've heard of 6 in the first list and 4 in the second list. Of those, Maroon 5, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, and Alanis Morisette are the only ones I've heard music from. The other ones I only know from the covers of those tabloid magazines and tabloid TV shows.
Neon Trees I only know from that buick commercial where all the tour buses are following the tiny car around town (and their song (or what of it is in the commercial) gets on my nerves)

...and I'm in the target audience for all that noise crap....err..."music".
