This shark apparently "fell" from the sky on to a golf course in San Juan Capistrano, California. Local wildlife specialists assume it was plucked from the ocean by a peregrine or an eagle (one of Killdeer's friends no doubt! :D ) and somehow the 2 foot leopard shark managed to wiggle free. It was quickly retrieved and then hurried to the ocean (which was only 4 miles away) and set loose. Here's a link to the story http://news.yahoo.com/shark-falls-sky-onto-calif-golf-course-233322113.html

A fish story and a golfing story all in one. That's what we'd call "integration" in the ed. biz.

I've stepped on a 6' leopard shark in murky water. Not fun.

They are really beautiful animals (for bottom feeders). And pretty darn tasty sweet if you're not too afraid of Mercury.

I'd narrow it down to an eagle or one of these guys.

Osprey
Peregrines are aerialists that pursue and capture their prey on the wing.
They don't fish, as a pretty solid general rule. Joe

Your are correct Joe, they stated eagle or osprey and in my haste to post I flubbed up!

I think it's pretty amazing that after being grabbed by a raptor, dropped on a golf course and kept in a bucket, first with fresh water, then salty water; the little guy was able to swim away when he was put back in the ocean. That's one tough fish. (Assisted by some very kind humans.)
Neat story Scott. Thanks.
