We just put a new floor in our kitchen and dining room. Mrs. Dread loved the mahogany, and quite frankly, so did I. They're 3 1/4" wide, 3/4" thick pre-finished solid mahogany planks. Got 'em at Lumber Liquidators and a friend did the install. The dogs love it too :D

Cost about the same as a new mahogany Guild D-40. Mrs. Dread won this round. :D

Just think of the great sound you're dishes will make, breaking on that Hog floor!

Nice looking floors....did you consider rosewood, instead?
Enjoy,

Careful! Now that even Honduras mahogany is on the CITES list  Not that you have an early morning raid of the feds soon...

This mahogany is from Columbia according to the packaging. It's really dense and hard, and the sawdust is red. Lots of variation in the color, which is one reason why we picked it. The finish is neither poly nor nitro, it's aluminum oxide, very scratch resistant. Now there's something for the guitar manufacturers to consider...?

What kind of tone do the dogs' paws get on the new floor?

No sound at all, actually. Of course, we keep their nails trimmed.

They have discovered that the floor is slippery though

Dread, that's beautiful. Really love the color.

So, not a polyurethane finish, eh? I thought that's what the norm was for floor finishes.
