thought I would start a thread for the new American Guild M-20. here are 2 pictures of some of the very first examples available for purchase. I wouldn't wait to long to buy one if you are considering- the supply is likely much lower than the demand. Seems like a good deal with the case, right inline with Martins pricing for similar (but far from identical) models.

To veer, what do people really mean when they report a "serial number" on a new M20? Did Oxnard change the serial number scheme or is someone at CME just claiming that their sales rep (or the factory) told them they were getting the twelfth and fourteenth M20's produced or what? In the New Hartford days a serial number that ended with 12 was the 12th guitar made that day, without distinguishing between the various models but there is probably an instrument made the next day with a serial that ended in 12.

Why don't the labels say "Made in Oxnard"? Are they ashamed of Oxnard? Dr. Demento fans may remember the song that immortalized Oxnard for the ages:

I like that there are 4 available digits after the year. So 16xxxx, meaning they plan on producing many guitars is my take.

I'm with you, Tom. The format of the SN means nothing to me. Nor does the mention of California, but omission of Oxnard. To me, California is just one big republic anyway. :highly_amused: :rolleyes-new:

Exactly!! I grew up right near Oxnard, CA and so I sometimes forget that it's not a very attractive name. I don't even think about it. But I realize that some people do think about it.

Hey Tiki, I remember Dr. Demento!! Was that a left coast thing or was it a national radio show?

It was a syndicated show . . . I recall hearing it here in Massachusetts back in the day.
