Stupid question, … what’s the difference between X170 and X175 … the finish maybe
Key difference to me is body size. The X170 is slightly smaller. For example, the 1986 Guild catalog list the X170 as 16 5/8” wide lower body and 2 1/2” deep while the X500 is 17” wide and 3 1/2” deep. The X175, when offered, was the same size as the X500 but less bling. I am sure there are other differences (sound post on X170 vs fully hollow on older X175, etc..)Stupid question, … what’s the difference between X170 and X175 … the finish maybe
X170 has an all maple body that's somewhere beween thinline and medium depth with an interior block under the bridge, and a maple neck.Stupid question, … what’s the difference between X170 and X175 … the finish maybe
I think some X-175s had a sound post (like some X-500s) toward the end of their production run in the 1980s.no bridge block or soundpost
Yes, the switch to maple happened sometime in 1976.And a maple neck too by that time?
The X-170 (introduced in the mid-1980s) wasn't in the book because it only covered Guild models up to 1977.but didn’t see a X170 and X175 side by side
Sounds goodThe X-170 (introduced in the mid-1980s) wasn't in the book because it only covered Guild models up to 1977.
