Please pardon my ignorance but I i never knew of a D26. One showed up locally for sale last week and I thought it was a typo, and that the seller was listing a D25. Of course I was curious so i went to take a look, cash in hand as the one photo looked really good, but we know how that can turn out. Definitely was a worthwhile curiosity and thanks mostly to this site I was able to educate myself on the D26. Ive had a couple of D25s over the years including a 1987 model which i currently still own. Essentially as noted in other posts here, they are the same guitar, except the D26 has a bit more decorative bling, like the gold tuners, white binding, and the light mahogany stain. The D26, to me, is more visually appealing with the extras. Playability, weight and tone are about the same. The fact that Guild only made less than 500 of them and only in 1995 also appealed to me. I wonder how many are still out there, I feel very fortunate to have found this awesome example of the D26, with the original case no less. Anyway just wanted to post up and share a few photos of both. IMG_4717.jpegIMG_4720.jpegIMG_4718.jpegIMG_4719.jpeg

They also have scalloped bracing. Congrats on your new guitbox!

Based on the examples I’ve been fortunate enough to own or play, the early to mid ‘90s were consistently good years for Guild acoustics, especially in the neck-angle department. Well done & Enjoy!

Congrats Flipperz. Looks nice. There were a couple that surfaced within the last year or so. I think @twocorgis might have landed one. The reviews I’ve read have been very positive. Hope you enjoy it!

I've had two of them with different names. The first is the D26 I wouldn't mind having back. It was a terrific guitar, probably the best "D25" I've ever played or owned.

The there's the D25 25 Anniversary. Same exact guitar, Different name and headstock, four serial numbers away from my first D26. Also pretty great.

Guild sure has been consistently inconsistent.

If there were less than 500 d26s built i wonder how
many 25th anniversary models were sold?

Hehehe... The real issue here, Flipperz, is that I don't think anyone knows. Maybe Hans Moust does. But, it's been pointed out a few times here on LTG that the naming conundrum on this guitar causes real confusion. See twocorgis' thread pointers above.

There are plenty of these around, maybe 500 is a good number, but some/many weren't even built at the 25th anniversary.

Some folks who have them like them better than their D-25s. I don't know if that's universal, but you are in good company!

Like Chazmo said, no one knows (except maybe for Hans). Here's mine.
