He was! Superwound was another subsidiary of James How Industries. I tried a set of the electric guitar strings, but didn't really like them. Possibly, this was because my S-300, with it's angled tailpiece, meant that the length of unwound string in the playing length of each string was different  That said, they did seem to be more highly regarded by bass players.
Nice Jaydee bass, mostly associated with Level 42 bassist Mark King. Sadly, just found out that the maker, John Diggins, passed away this January. The company is still around, being run by his sons and grandson.

While it has been a while, I tried and very much liked Rotosound medium-gauge strings on my (Tacoma) D55; just hard to get locally in my area...this thread makes me want to try them again on my NH D55!

As a vear, my son's bass player had a problem with a new set of Rotosound bass strings, and just sort of grumbled about it...think they were too short for a Fender jazz bass, possibly a retailer problem? "DAD" says, let me see what I can do...wrote an email to their contact, within a day got a response from a gent in California and then within days had a whole new set of bass strings for the kid's Jazz Bass. Who does that? Great company in my book ;)

Just as another aside...the kid had bought said Jazz Bass really cheaply, told that it had a bad truss rod. "DAD" says, let me play with it...only took an hour to find the truss rod was just way out of adjustment, brought back into "spec," and kid is happy camper. I am just a "hacker" with a little sense of mechanical ability. Damn, those "luthiers" at Guitar Center are good, eh? Fair enough, he got a Fender (fretless) Jazz Bass at a salvage price ;)

Awesome. Glad you were able to help him too, Bill. What often happens is that kids can't afford (or don't want to afford) to pay someone to properly set up their axes so they end up in closets. Particularly true with 12-string guitars, of course. Anyway, great stuff "dad!"

Some years ago someone accidentally sent me a box of Rotosound bass strings - I had bought something from him before so he had my name and address and mixed things. I contacted him and offered to send them back at his expence. He told me I can have them.

Since my only bass is fretless B30 - I have no use for them. I've been handing them out - most people are not interested even though I offer them for free . . .

I sent some to ex-LTG-member EWH in Denmark - he sent me back beautiful candleholders 🍺

My stock at moment is something like :

RotoSound Swing Bass strings - roundwound except where said otherwise

- 17 sets of short scale - 30 - 045-065-085-105
- 5 sets of medium scale - 30-32 - 038-047-075-090
- 3 sets of extra long scale - 34-36 - 045-065-085-105
- 1 set of long-scale 32-34 8-string bass set
- 15 sets of long-scale 32-34 8-string bass octave strings 20-30-35-45
- 5 sets of long scale 32-34 Superwound 606 45-65-80-105
- 1 set of medium scale - 30-32 Superwound 606 35-45-70-85
- 16 G-strings - long scale 32-34 - 045 ( one string is labeled octave E )
- 6 D-strings - long scale 32-34 - 065
- 1 D-string - long scale 32-34 - 065 Superwound
- 9 E-strings - long scale 32-34 - 065 - length "silk-to-silk" 35,5
-12 E-strings - long scale 32-34 - 065 - length "silk-to-silk" 34,5 - marking "-1" on envelope

Should I get into "Modern Art" - and create some mesh - and pick up a fancy name plus mysterious explanation of it ? 😂
