I was rather surprised to find out that Linda's younger brother is the actor Brian Pettifer, who has appeared in many British TV series and the Lindsay Anderson movies, If, O Lucky Man and Britannia Hospital, in all of which he played a character called Biles, though, as with the Mick Travis characters played by Malcolm McDowell, these are not the same character!
One of Brian Pettifer's best known roles was as Andra in Rab C. Nesbitt, a still of which has been going round as an "alternative" U2 photo recently. Brian is on the left:)

A very bitter and painful post-divorce song from Linda :

From the same session as above. The guitarist is Teddy Thompson, one of her children with Richard.

Teddy and Richard

If I recall correctly this tune started out its life as a solo acoustic guitar piece. Tim Finn (ex Split Enz and Crowded House) apparently loved the melody so much that he set words to it.

I just saw Richard Thompson in Hartford. Solo acoustic but for the second half he brought out a female singer and they did some stuff she sang on his new album and also some old Richard and Linda Thompson stuff. It was great to hear.

With:

Clive Gregson: Guitar/Vocals
Christine Collister: Vocals

I saw Thompson with these two in a very small club. If I remember correctly the rhythm section was made up of Fairport Convention members, the two Daves. With every pint that slid down Thompson's throat, his hand reached for the volume knob on his Fender Twin (much to the dismay of the soundboard guy). My ears are still ringing.

The delightful Christine Collister:
